Opportunity for presidential beers!

This weekend is the first of the season where we have all 8 sides playing. We have some pretty tasty games and excellent opportunities to play.

With 8 different oppositions Presidential beers are at stake this weekend ... the club rule is that if all teams win the president has to buy a keg ... it's a tricky ask but lets put the effort in and try to make it happen!!

If you are looking for a game and don't have one yet let us know and we can get you in a team.

M1s 2pm at Fettes v Hillhead (cup)

The 1s picked up 6pts from the weekend including beating Kelburne 2-1 on Sunday. Their unbeaten start to the campaign has been great and they have the opportunity to get to the quarter finals of the cup with a home tie against league rivals Hillhead. Saturday won't be easy though, Dom Wild is suspended this weekend so the 1s will be without the Australian's experience and grit. However, Andrew Brogdon is back from holiday and Ali Irvine is back from army camp where he was pretending to be a solider for 3 weeks - so the squad is as strong as always.

M2s 12pm Hillhead 2s at GHK (cup)

The 2s dropped their first points of the year against Clydesdale away. 3-3 draw away in Glasgow is never a bad thing but with the quality that side has it could have been a better result. This weekend is a re-run of a fortnight ago. However, the game will be much tougher this week as there are 9 u18/U16s representing the Caledonian Cougars at the Future's Cup so it might be an old look 2nd XI.

M3s 13:30 Glasgow Green v Kelburne 3s (cup)

The 3s love a draw but Saturday has to end in a result either way.

The reigning champions are on the hunt for more silverware against Kelburne this weekend. They drew 1-1 with Kelburne 2s last week so this will hopefully be a win and a route through to the quarter finals.

Matt Henton will be looking for Calum Lothian's reverse stick to be on form again on Saturday. He scored a roofer a fortnight ago to secure a 3-3 draw with Uddingston.

MDev v Uni 4s EA North 3pm
PICK OF THE WEEK

The development team had last weekend off to recover from their glorious 1-0 victory over the 5s. They have now to re-assemble with a few kids missing on international duty and will need a good performance to beat Uni 4s. Having gone 5 wins on the trott the Dev team are revitalised from their poor 2015 season and are still in contention for the East 1 crown. Uni 4s are always a strong side and this will be a very good game to go and watch.

M5s v Gordonians 3s EA North 13:30 (cup)

The 5th XI showd cracking boucebackability last week to get 3 pts in an emphatic victory against ESM. Doug Meikle's first half brace was enough to mean he avoided another jug and secure the win. Gordonians will have to travel, which is always tricky, but they will be a strong outfit.

It'll take a full squad to overcome this hurdle and try to get to the quarter finals of the reserve cup.

M6s v ESM 2s 1230pm at Inverleith (away)

The 5s managed to show ESM how to play and they will have learnt some lessons from that game.

The 6s have had a precarious start to the year, win, loss, win all year. Lets hope the winning 6s turn up on Saturday!

M7s v Dunfermline City venue and time tbc (away)
Dunfermline City have yet to win a game this season ... this could be a real opportunity for the 7s to get some points. The 7s narrowly missed out losing 4-3 against Stirling Uni 2s so have a real chance to get a win across the bridge.

M8s v Dunfermline Carnegie colts - St Georges 2:30pm
The 8s always enjoy their games and they will come across some young opposition here. The colts have won all 3 of their games so far and have only conceded two goals. They will need to make sure their metal knee braces are in position and their smoking pipes are safely stored in order to see if they can salvage something from the game.
