Cup games, glory and derbies!

Loads of games to preview this weekend!

Scottish cup is in action and most teams are away. Here is Frankie Fryer to give you things to do on your travels: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ6izMHPMkU

M1 v Western away Auchenhowie Sunday

1st round of the cup matches the stags with the wildcats. Always a fierce encounter - the wildcats have had a tough start to the season and will be going for their first win, the 1s have picked up 4 pts from 6 and are looking to get their cup back after winning it in 2014 and 2015.

M2 v Western home Fettes 11am Saturday
After the disappointing no show of Stepps last week, the 2s are hoping to continue winning ways. It'll be the pick of the youth with Western having a v.strong U18 outfit as well.

M2 v Uni 2s Fettes 3pm Sunday
Tough draw for the 2s in the cup but they will relish the challenge. It'll be a good match with both teams playing attacking hockey.

M3 v Clydesdale away 230pm PB Saturday
It'll be a battle and with Captain Allan away, Matt 'the gardener' Henton is in charge and will be looking to harvest three points.

M3 v Menzieshill 3s away DISC 1130 Sunday
Another tough draw, but at least Scottish hockey remembered to add the 3s to the draw! It'll be interesting to see how these sides are matched. Both big clubs with strong depth.

Dev v 6s Fettes 1230 Saturday
Woof - first Derby of the season. The roller coaster of being a 6s squad member has reached a new twist - how will they fair against the flair and pace of the Dev team? President Baird will be on hand with the cards and you can be guaranteed he'll need them.

PICK OF THE DAY

5s v Fidra away 1130 Saturday
After a couple of weeks of rest the 5s are back on the title hunt. Breaking news is that the 5s have made another new signing, who is sure to rip it up Meadowmill. Let's hope Captain Broomhead's two week warm weather training camp has paid off and his canoe is in full working order.

5s v Inverleith EA 1500 Sunday cup
Cup drama as a derby is pulled out the imaginary hat - again the 5s were left out the cup draw. Having played each other earlier this season the 5s will need to guard against complacency and ensure they battle through to round 2.

6s v Aberdeen Grammar away Rubislaw 1500 Sunday
Tough tie. Made even tough when the 6s weren't included in the cup draw so instead of having a re-draw were just given a tie away at Aberdeen. Craig will need to gather troops from throughout the club to try and cobble a team together for the away day.

7s v WIT 1s St Georges 14:00
The 7s play WIT this week. WIT have really worked there way down the divisions and I can see this being an opportunity for Mr Behan's men to take 3pts.

8s v Cala 3s
Cala have shipped 20 goals in 3 games ... rumour has it that JHJ has been seen down at Edinburgh Academy re-inforcing the backboard for Saturday's game. Adam Seabright says that all he needs to add to his game to take him to the next level is skill, pace and goals - he will hopefully bag a few on Saturday.

Again good luck to all teams and we will be sure to keep you up to date with how we go!
