Home to Stepps 2s

So here it was. Aggregate scores in the last games the 3s played was 1-15, whilst our opponents had stealthily accumulated more points and had drawn level with us in the league. A key game for both parties looking to shore up their positions before the winter break.
A strong and large squad, boded well, even after Old Gregg tore a pectoral muscle(!) in the warm-up; Kit arrived as usual, just as we concluded our team shout on the 25.
Perhaps befitting our relative positions in the league, I can imagine, this was not a pleasing match on the eye. Both sides were sloppy in possession and as such neither team could claim dominance over the ball, nor create any decent chances.
Both goals, one in each half, came from depth with midfielders arriving fromt he top of the D - Kit driving a quick free-hit and smashing it through a hive of players into the corner, whilst G grabbed his first goal for the Club reacting quickest to a well-played advantage in the D and driving into inside the near post.
With that the puff seemed to leave Stepps and the game meandered to its conclusion in the twilight - St. George's couldn't be bothered to set the floodlight timers, again, despite asking them several times during the week.
First clean sheet of the season too. Which was nice.
