We started well and had the upper hand in just about every area of the pitch. The defence held firm and Batch was there to maintain the clean sheet on several occasions. But it was Angus Hamilton who broke the deadlock with a wicked strike from a broken down corner, a strike that gave the keeper no chance and brought a sigh of relief to a team that had only scored 2 goals in their last four matches. 1-0 at half time.
The second half was more of the same, with Grange on top but not quite managing to dominate… at least until another corner saw Andrew Boyd decide that the odds were better for his reverse stick than Bunker's front stick. He was proved right as the ball looped over the keeper and into the net.
A third goal from Doig Meikle sealed the victory, although a few wobbles towards the end took a little bit of the gloss off a pretty impressive victory. Closing down games and enjoying the dominance we had are going to be important in the games ahead.
Overall this was a pretty comprehensive victory and the most solid defensive performance to date. Things might be looking up…
