It's a New Start.........

First game of the season and it was the usual mixture of youth and experience that took to the field for the Dev team. Unfortunately for the experienced bit of the team - we are all a year older and as we only had 11 players, there was no coming on for 10 mins and then a deserved 20 minute break!

We had three debutants in the shape of Tario in goal and two youngsters in Leo and Mark - all made excellent starts. Against a fairly stuffy Watsonians side who won promotion last year we made strong start with Greg Browne and James Stuart causing problems down the right hand side. Derek Bell and captain Tim were in control at the back and marshalled the 3 debutants well. Mid way through the half the pressure told with Norman Mcleod slotting home a short corner (who needs Donald?). 1-0 up at half time and everything looking rosy.

However, we (well some of us) began to run out of legs in the second half allowing the opposition to build some pressure and finally an equaliser came from an excellent turn and shot from the top of the circle. Our youngsters kept working hard and we created several chances in the last 15 minutes but to no avail and the final score was probably a fair result - tinged in controversy when the opposition scored a very late break-away goal after a Grange short corner attempt was blocked by the runner out's foot. Initially the goal was allowed but order was eventually restored and a further short corner given (and wasted!).
