When half the students missed their bus stop they thought it was a good idea to stay on to the end of the line and take the bus back again. Going one down before their keeper got on the pitch may have changed their minds.
The opening goal came from the Flying Monty, who dived to turn a through ball from Gordon Allen (the other one) into the net. After that the Uni got into their stride and it took a number of great tackles from Bunker to keep them at bay. It was no real surprise that they equalised before half time.
Grange were unable to repeat the second half form of last week and didn't really look like scoring, while defensive mistakes gave the students a couple of fairly simple goals to put the result beyond doubt.
On the plus side there were debuts for three juniors. Tom, Rory and Andrew joining Angus to help reduce the average age to a little less than fortysomething. It was a harsh introduction to East 1 but they all look capable of moving through the ranks to higher teams.
Next week is the first derby of the season, facing the 5s on Sunday afternoon. Let's hope for a better performance all round!
