It's not often you come off a pitch having lost 6-2 but feeling fairly satisfied with the team's performance, well, at least the second half performance.

A dreadful start saw a slack pass give the 5s a lead within the first couple of minutes, followed by another couple of clumsy and sloppy mistakes which put us 3 down within the first twenty minutes. That is not to say we didn't create chances, just that the ones we created for the opposition were so much more inviting than the ones we made for ourselves.

By the end of the first half we found ourselves no less than 5-0 down and pretty close to being seriously embarrassed.

Fortunately the second half saw a vastly improved team performance, with much greater effort and a dramatic reduction in the amount of self-inflicted wounds. A goal from Ross Paterson gave us a glimmer of hope, which was pretty much extinguished when the 5s scored their sixth.

Then a bobbled corner from Maiden found its way into the net, and if his next strike had not been just a little too high and a McNally shot hadn't hit the post, the sustained pressure might have been enough to put the result at risk.

Overall 6-2 was not a fair reflection of the way the game went, but it showed how dangerous it is to make a slow start to a game in this league.
