Last week we came close to taking points off the league leaders, this week we faced the second placed side and didn't expect to have an easy afternoon. It wasn't, for them!

An amazing first half saw us gain a well deserved three-nil lead after wonderful attacking play from Monty, Whitey and Ross-y(?). With the support of Rusty driving through the middle, the passing and movement was fantastic to watch. For the first time this season we fulfilled the potential that had been bubbling under for so long.

The first goal was finished by Monty after great work by Ross Paterson. The finish at the back post looked simple enough, but it would not have happened without the commitment from the front line to get forward and support their team mates.

The second was remarkably similar, but this time it was Paterson with the simple finish after another slick move which started when White intercepted a slack pass.

The third came from a penalty corner when Paterson's attempt to put the ball into the roof of the net fell short (by around 1.5m), only for McNally to knock the ball in after it bounced off the prone keeper.

Obviously the second half was not going to be as one sided as the first and ESM came out strongly and scored early in the second period with one of their first real attacks. Despite this we kept our shape and Zak Hesketh combined well with Craig Robertson and Mike White to work the ball down the right wing to keep putting the pressure on ESM. However we weren't able to extend our lead and a second goal for the home team put more pressure on us.

A cool and confident defense kept control of the ball and played out the remaining time to give us an important 3 points (and hopefully help the Development side to pass ESM in the league).

Overall this was a great performance and something we need to build on as we look to climb the league in the latter half off the season.
