Who? Well maybe we did.
The start was everything you would expect from a Grange derby—hard fought and fast paced. Unfortunately the Dev had the majority of the possession and opened the scoring after 15 minutes. A second was quickly added and it looked like the writing was on the wall for the 6s—until a Penalty Corner broke down and Louis Galloway took the opportunity to unleash his terrifying drag flick (or so he told us afterwards) to bring us back into the game. 2-1 at half time.
The second half saw the 'junior' side make better use of the ball and the Dev side had no answer to the slick passing move that saw the ball passed to Dunbar on the right wing, who crossed for White to edge the ball home for the equaliser.
If anyone thought that was a bit of a fluke they were proved wrong when an even better series of passes cut through the centre of the Dev defense to leave Dunbar with an open goal to put us ahead.
Ross Paterson was the main attacking threat and he capped a Man of the Match performance by scoring with a diving reverse stick shot from the byline. Some claimed the ball was off the pitch and must have defied the laws of physics by crossing the goalline, but that was the sort of day we were having—magical!
4-2 in the end and no one would deny we were worthy winners.
