It was all a bit of a shambles at the beginning, with one driver (yep, me) deciding to follow Google's scenic route and arriving just before the match was due to start. Plus we had a couple of new players and five of the 7s helping us out, so not exactly a familiar line-up, but no excuse for the really poor control and passing we inflicted on the few spectators who were enjoying the sunshine.
And as for our corners… lets just say that we won several, which was nice.
Despite our lack of any obvious talent we had the majority of possession and it did not take too long before a Robertson ball into the circle was guided into the net by the stick of a diving Neil Christison.
Our lead was doubled shortly before half time when Craig Robertson latched on to a ball from another broken-down corner before spinning 180˚ to guide the ball past the keeper.
The second half was much better and Richard Dunbar started to take control of the right wing, linking well with James Dodkin and Mike White up front and it wasn't long before goals from Dunbar and White had doubled our lead. A final goal from White wrapped up the proceedings, giving us a very comfortable victory.
Overall, lots of hard work, took our chances well, but plenty of room for improvement. Massive thanks to the guys who helped us out.
